Due to the different needs and preferences, our mats are available in four different thicknesses: 2mm, 3.5mm, 4.5mm, and 6mm. Need a visual? The image below should help.
2mm - Travel
Our "travel" mat is super thin and light, it is meant for far away travel as there is not much cushion. Ideally it is for those who want to take their yoga mat to new adventures by traveling and don't want to carry the extra weight. Ready to take your practice with you? This thickness is currently available in our Essentials Mat and Chakras Alignment Mat.
3.5mm - Commute
We call this thickness "commute", it is a standard thickness and slightly supportive. It is one of our thinner main standard cushions. This mat is perfect if you don’t want a very heavy weight and a lot of padding.
4.5mm - Standard Thick
Our most popular standard size. It provides a nice cushioning and great support and can provide a comfortable surface on the bones and joints. It is a perfect balance of cushioning without allowing the wrists to overextend/sink into the cushion. Our 4.5mm thickness is now available in our X-Wide Essential Cork Mat that adds an extra 4 inches in width.
6mm - Extra Thick
Thicker than average; it is highly cushioning. Perfect for those with bone or joint pain and are truly uncomfortable unless they have a lot of cushioning. Please be aware this mat can get pretty heavy, however all our mats will include a carry strap. This thickness is currently available in the Essential Cork Mat, Tree of Life Alignment Cork Mat and our best-selling Botanicals Cork Mat.
Lengths & Widths
Meet our different sizes of yoga mats:
1. Standard sizes:
Our Standard size is 72" long x 24" wide, which is available in every design on our website. Since it is our standard size, most yogis will be able to comfortably practice using this length and width.
The Kids’ length is the perfect size for little ones. It is a kids standard of 59” x 23”, making it 13” shorter and 1” less wide. You can view our range of Kids Mats here!
2. Special Sizes:
This length is perfect for those who are taller or just want a longer area to stretch. The mat is 6’7 ft long (80" x 26"), giving you lots of stretch space. It is 2” wider than our standard width as well and comes in the standard thickness of 4.5mm. This size is currently available only in our Blossom Cork Mat and X-Tall Essentials Cork Mat. This extra length can also be found in our Biggest Essential Cork Mat.
This width is perfect for those who want more room on the sides. Compared to the standard mat it is the same length, yet 4” wider. It comes in the standard thickness of 4.5mm. This size is only available in our Essential Collection. Find it here. This extra width can also be found in our Biggest Essential Cork Mat.
Named after its size, our “Biggest” cork mat or what we also call our “X-Large” mat, is our biggest mat yet. Compared to the standard mat, it is 4” wider, 8” longer and also comes with extra-thick cushioning. In short, it combines the length of our X-Tall mat, the width of the X-Wide mat and the thickness of our X-Thick 6mm yoga mats. This size is only available in our Essential Collection. Find it here.
@Paula – Hi Paula, thicknesses do depend on the comfort that you personally need! Many are happy with our 3.5mm standard and 4.5mm standard. The most popular thickness that we recommend is the 4.5mm. This is the standard thick mat that can support majority of people’s practice. However, if you’re a person who has sensitive knees and want the extra support, then we recommend to either add our cork knee pads (they come in pairs), to any mat. And/ or choose the X-Thick size which will be very comfortable if you want more cushioning and support for sensitive knees or joints. Hope that helps :)
Which thickness would be best to protect and support my knees in daily practice?
@Ray Martin: Hi Ray, we are getting more feedback about this and we will be taking this in consideration to bring our thickness for the BIGGEST mat to be 4.5mm, thank you for the comment and feedback
I have been looking for a large cork mat. I am 6’5" , 220 lbs.
I really like the dimensions of the X-Large (biggest) mat, but I do not need or want it to be 6mm thick.
do you make it in a 4.5mm thickness?
